Science and Nonduality

Later this month, the Science and Nonduality conference will take place in California. Wish I could be there! This is the stuff I want to weave in subtle ways into my fiction, and use as a lens through which to view others' literary works. Here is a sampler of last year's conference speakers:

  2. Hi Brent: I haven't read the book but I must admit that I see the issue of duality and science/spirituality as much more complex.I find the problem with the word "duality." Our language is bifocal: male/female, hot/cold, good/bad. There are so many more divisiions and subtleties.

When Robert Rubin spoke at my NYU PHD. graduation he said he had been a philosophy major (I think in undergraduate school). He said his father had also started out as a philosophy major but when the teacher pointed to the desk and said "this is not a desk. it's a series of atoms" his father got up and left the class and changed his major. He said it was a desk and that's all there was to it.

I believe that so much of the conflict between our inner lives and outer lives are the steps the join the two.

Just a thought. I do believe that there are certain holy wo/men who have made the unity but they are few and far between.

I will try and read the book. It sounds interesting. ellin

  3. Nice to hear from you, Ellin. Yes, the dualities that appear in this world are very misleading. I'm not clear about what book you're referring to (this post was about the Science and Nonduality Conference that happens every October). If you mean my book of stories, the Nonduality principles I had hoped to embody in it are not very apparent. First, I just hope the stories are good.

  4. I stumbled upon your website as I was browsing the web and was taken in by title of your blog. I have to admit that I am writing this after scanning through your posts, but I have just recently written a few papers on the topic of non-duality. I would be honored if you could read some of my work and tell me what you think. (http://keithdonald.wordpress.com/2010/11/27/entanglement/)

This is the first time that I have heard about these conferences, and I would like to attend one some time. I am a little disappointed to have missed this years event, but I am not sure if I would have been able to make the road trip anyways.

When I get some more free time I look forward to reading your posts more carefully. I also hope to hear from you about some of my own writing.

    Thanks, keith

  5. Hello again. I apologize for not delving more deeply into your writings previously, but I neglected to mention something about the writing that I linked to. It is a tie in with some of my other writing, but the aspects of non-duality that I talk about in the paper "Entanglement" have to do with the seeming gaps between 'self' and 'mind' as I describe them. I hope the paper will prove to be of interest to you, which your writings , I am sure, will do the same for me.
    Thanks again, keith.

  6. Keith, thanks for visiting. If you look closer at my posts, you'll see that I'm viewing nonduality through a literary lens. My focus is on fiction and poetry, and I'm a beginner in nonduality study. Just finished a great book: Standing as Awareness, by Greg Goode. I recommend it for getting in deep.

I'll definitely check out your writings. Stay in touch.
